Oppose HB 1893 in Oklahoma

Oklahoma HB 1893 is amending current legislation that was enacted in 2011. The amendments that are proposed aim at curtailing youth access to tobacco products. We at the Premium Cigar Association keep a close eye on the FDA inspection reports that highlight youth access but, in the total digitized copies of said reports there has not been a single premium cigar violation in Oklahoma for as far back as the FDA records go (2016). So in the four years that is digitized, there has not been a single instance of a youth access violation in the state of Oklahoma.

In addition to that, there would be a 900% increase to licensing fees for tobacco retailers. This increase of fees comes at a time where all retailers are hurting and attempting to recover from the pandemic. This legislation would also provide local government the authority to enact a patchwork of ordiances that create regulatory uncertainity to small businesses in the state. Take a few moments and contact your state lawmakers to oppose this legislation!
